This phenomenon doesn’t happen to just failures – it happens with the most successful people too.

Watch this video to be inspired by some other so-called failures. IF THEY CAN DO IT, SO CAN WE!

Some of you probably know that I’m now learning to do what ANTHONY ROBBINS does. His selfless generosity, insightful understanding, empowering methodology and energy for life, has inspired millions of people over the last 30 years, right around the globe.

For those who don’t yet know, Tony has advised Fortune 500 CEO’s, members of two royal families, major sports teams, professional and Olympic athletes, the British Parliament, Harvard Business School, the World Economic Forum and even the President of the United States, on the psychology of leadership, negotiations, personal and professional transformation, organizational turnaround and peak performance.

See an short example of his method of “strategic intervention” below.

MAKE A MONUMENTAL DECISION – When I first made the decision that I REALLY, REALLY wanted to be like Anthony Robbins and work with groups of thousands of people in order to empower change in their lives, I wondered how on earth this would ever be possible.

CREATE MOMENTUM – Within the first hour of making that decision, I’d found a course that had just become available on the internet where he was one of the faculty, teaching World-Class Intervention and Communication Skills, and even though a very clear sign on the website said that enrollments had closed for this particular training program, I contacted the organizers and strongly professed I’d do whatever it takes to be accepted, and to learn all I could to enable me to reach my goal.

FOCUSED ACTION - My commitment level was so high that I was accepted into this 9 month course, 4 weeks into the training, but even if I hadn’t been accepted, I had a backup plan and nothing was going to stop me.

MONITOR YOUR THOUGHTS – I was so determined that nothing would stand in my way in order to reach this goal – including the occasional thoughts that “I didn’t know enough”, “I wasn’t good enough”, “I didn’t have enough experience”, I even had some funny thoughts that said, “I don’t have the right clothes to be an inspirational leader”! One even funnier thought was that “I couldn’t do this because I am a woman”, as womens natural energy is more loving – not at all like that male competitive type business energy (that I assumed Tony had) – boy was I wrong!

MAKE A PUBLIC COMMITMENT – I’m sure he has a strong competitive nature inside somewhere, but what instantly struck me, is that Tony is the most loving business minded man I have ever met. His passion, dedicated contribution and love of people is the driving force behind everything he does! And, when I publicly stated I wanted to be like Tony, I suddenly found that I felt good enough, worthy enough, strong enough, powerful enough, experienced enough, intelligent enough and many other positive “enough’s”. Now I HAVE to reach my goal.

MAKE MASSIVE CHANGES – What got me to this point? Well, I raised my standards for my life. I started listening to empowering speakers on audios and videos instead of the negative comments from other people. I completely stopped taking what my mother said, to heart (she had such a unique way of making me feel bad without even realizing what she was saying). I completely stopped allowing other people to tell negative stories around me and only asked them to speak to me if they had something useful to share. These were things I’d wanted to do for years and years and just hadn’t committed to making the change because I was worried it would lose friendships and create unrest.

COMMAND RESPECT – At the time I didn’t realize that expecting more of other people is one of the most empowering ways to command respect (yes, respect is something we must command) and it had the pleasant side effect of changing other peoples outlook and focus too, well at least when they are around me.

RAISE YOUR STANDARDS – You know, our job as friends, partners, lovers, children, parents, relatives, co-workers etc is to see MORE in people than what they see in themselves. Ask them to “raise their standards” of the way they communicate about their life … and sometimes we do have to DEMAND it, like a parent would DEMAND a child to “get off the road”. Demanding more of the people we come in contact with, is one of the best things we can do for them … other people might allow and even encourage them to keep their small minded thoughts because then they can feel OK about their own.

SPEAK UP – I even though that I shouldn’t be harsh when I spoke to these individuals, because one of my role models, “Jesus”, spoke in quiet tones (or so we might think). But even Jesus raised his voice when he cast the sinners out of the temple…and that is what YOU must do too. Raise your voice and CAST OUT those thoughts, words and deeds that are disturbing your place of worship, whether that be in your home, at work, your meditation area, your backyard, your community … raise your voice and demand that others show a better side of themselves … and of course, lead by example and show them how it’s done.

BE UNSTOPPABLE – Never let your small thoughts distract you from a world where you can be, do and have “whatever you want” simply by choosing it! And DON’T think you ONLY have to choose want you want (commonly known as setting your goals) once at the beginning of each New Year – you continue making the same CHOICE every month, every day, every hour, every moment and allow everything you think, say and do be a reflection of that choice.

Can you see what you’ve already created for your life
by what you’ve thought about,
what you’ve said and
what you’ve done?

MAKE BETTER CHOICES – Whatever you are thinking, saying and doing NOW is a reflection of your past choices. NEVER let anything stand in your way of making a better choice. Don’t let what’s happening INSIDE you stand in your way – and don’t let what’s happening OUTSIDE you stand in your way. Because YOU have the power to make a brand new decision NOW if you don’t like the reflection you’re currently seeing.

YOU’RE RIGHT! – Some people might think that they don’t and can’t create their own lives – and if YOU think that too, then you’re right. Your mind accepts everything you tell it.

But let’s just try these questions on for size -

1. What have you allowed to happen in your life that you didn’t STOP from happening (sometimes known as enabling)?
2. Have you allowed dis-empowering thoughts about yourself or others to enter into your mind (sometimes known as negative thinking)?
3. Have you allowed other people to disturb you from believing you can reach a big goal (sometimes known as thwarted intention)?
4. Have you allowed yourself to speak disrespectfully of others (sometimes known as “tall poppy syndrome” or gossip)?
5. Have you allowed yourself to regularly indulge in things that are clearly NOT in your best interest (sometimes known as addictions)?

What things have you allowed into your life, that are simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU anymore?

Anthony Robbins says, “one of the best things you can do for yourself is Raise Your Standards!”

A NEW WAY TO SET YOUR GOALS – Many people set new goals each New Year and that is a good thing, but, if it’s something you’ve done in the past and it hasn’t worked very well for you, or you want to DO something different this year, why not have a go at this instead …

STEP 1

write down a list of the thoughts you want to STOP hearing.

write down a list of the words you want to STOP speaking.

write down a list of the things you want to STOP doing.

STEP 2

Then say out loud several times, “these things are NOT OK to accept into my life anymore!” and name each one of them as you’re doing it.

STEP 3

Get MAD with yourself for allowing these things to happen, to you and inside of you.

STEP 4

Then do something you have never done before – run faster than you’ve ever run before, yell louder than you’ve ever yelled before, roll your fists into a ball and pound on your bed for a longer time than you’ve ever done before. Push yourself to the point of NO RETURN…when you know that YOU will NO LONGER ACCEPT these dis-empowering things from happening inside you and outside of you.

STEP 5

When you’re done, when you’ve demanded ALL the emotion that you can to STOP things from happening to you and inside you, RELAX and KNOW … your new goals can be written from an entirely fresh perspective NOW.

REVELATIONS – I laugh as I realize that answering these few simple questions TRUTHFULLY were ALL that it took to move me from being a single mother with a pleasant enough life to being a woman with a grand vision for what is possible in her own life and the lives of others, and more importantly, someone who is looked up to for advice and copied as a role model. That wasn’t my initial goal, just a pleasant side effect of “going for what I truly wanted”, no matter how ridiculous it might sound, how big it might seem, how silly it might look or how stupid I might feel.

Maybe you would like to make some new decisions too!

And take a NEW action to cement that goal in place!

As Tony Robbins said, “the most important rules I ever adopted to help me in achieving my goals were those I learned from a very successful man who taught me to first, write down the goal, and then to never leave the site of setting a goal without first taking some form of positive action towards its attainment”.

May you become so angry and frustrated with your small minded thoughts and the small minded thoughts of others, that you will no longer allow them to enter your mind.

May you become so conscious of your words that you will only allow the empowering ones to come out of your mouth?

May you become so inspired by your journey that the destination will be a pleasant side effect?

HAPPY NEW YEAR

only to make decisions when I am in an emotionally neutral space.

to be thoughtful of other people’s feelings when I am providing feedback.

to tell the truth, no matter how difficult it might seem at the time!

that integrity is something that only you can decide if you possess or not.

that if I am unhappy inside, my body puts on extra padding to compensate.

to be accepting of other people’s lifestyle choices.

to not pass judgement and label someone as anything…such as stupid, weak, bad, ugly, lazy etc.

to know that my greatest power is to change my attitude.

that all people are doing the best they know how to.

to let go when I know I’ve done the best I can possibly do.

to have faith in my abilities, common sense, skills, wisdom, courage and vision for the future.

that I can be anything I want to be by making conscious choices each step of the way.

that is is easier to reach for bigger goals than for smaller ones.

to trust that everything works out for the best.

to be open to even better outcomes than I could have possibly imagined.

that doing what you enjoy to do for a living, is one of the finest pleasures in life.

that to forgive is one of the greatest gifts we give ourselves.

that to talk about the unpleasant things that happened in the past, only serves to keep us there.

miracles happen all the time – we simply have to recognize them.

that people rarely remember us for what we say, they remember us for how we make them feel.

we create our lives with every thought, word and action.

that worry is a prayer for what we don’t want.

the two most powerful words in the universe are “I am!”

that if you don’t choose your own life experience, your life experience will choose you.

that people love me for who I am, exactly the way I am – right now!

that once I set a goal, to always take one step towards it’s attainment – immediately.

that a good leader always takes responsibility – no matter what!

that if I let go of fear, that fear let’s go of me.

that one of the benefits of working for no pay, is that you can leave whenever you want.

that giving people what they want is the best way to do business.

to put myself first.

that actions speak much louder than words.

to speak my mind when I feel strongly about something.

not to make other people feel obligated.

to do what I feel like doing as often as I can.

to let myself cry when I feel like it even if it is in public.

to say “I love you” when I feel like it, but that I sometimes need to tell the other person I expect nothing in return.

that I easily command respect by respecting others.

that mistakes are my best teachers.

that to remain calm and to breathe is the best way to overcome pain.

that you can tell more about a person by what he says about others, than by what others say about him.

to give as much as I can, as often as I can, and in the best ways I can.

When was the last time you gave your attitude a check-up?

The most important ingredients to success and happiness, starts inside of us…our outer world is simply a reflection of our inner world. So maybe it’s time to take a look inside and see what is there. And as you are looking inside, how are you talking to yourself? Are you critical of what you find? Disappointed maybe? Do you speak well of yourself or do you harshly condemn? What is your real attitude when no one else is around? Do you speak positively or do you criticise or blame or judge other people as well? Have you ever known someone in a relationship who is constantly trying to change the other partner? Have you been involved in conversations where someone is trying to get you to agree with them with every new point they raise? How do you feel when you are around someone like that?

There will always be people in our lives that we get along with better than others, but one of the techniques that I use on a regular basis when I come up against someone who I feel annoyed by, is to take a look at what I am saying to myself about them. Then I immediately look inside myself and ask…OK, now when have I done that or when have I behaved like they are? I inevitably come up with answers that give me a new foundation to make decisions based on changing my own attitude (not anyone else’s).

Let me give you an example, just recently I felt annoyed by someone who was challenging my authority…I went inside myself and asked, OK, when have I behaved like this? Most of the times, the answers hit me like a thunderbolt, and this time was no exception. You see, I have been seriously challenging the owner of an establishment to make policy changes. I had been challenging his authority. Woila…there’s my answer. Now I know what to change! Sometimes we don’t realise our power of creating the same situations in order for us to address our own behaviour. But it soon becomes evident if we ask ourselves the right questions and take a look inside, towards our own attitudes.

On the other side of the coin, have you ever known anyone who was so self assured that they just kept working on their attitudes no matter what they were confronted with and simply became happier and more successful? That’s the side of the coin I intend to flip more often.

“Other people are mirrors, in which we see ourselves.”

So what are you seeing in other people? I hope you like it, because whether you like the notion or not, you are really looking right at yourself. Below you will find a story to illustrate this. The original author is unknown, but the message is powerful none-the-less.

Life Is An Echo

A son and his father were walking in the mountains. Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

To his surprise, hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: “AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

Curious, he yells: “Who are you?”

He receives the answer: “Who are you?”

Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward!”

He receives the answer: “Coward!”

He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?”

The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.” And then he screams to the mountain: “I admire you!”

The voice answers: “I admire you!”

Again the man screams: “You are a champion!”

The voice answers: “You are a champion!”

The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: “People call this echo, but really this is life. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.

This relationship applies to everything, in all aspect of life; life will give you back everything you have given to it.”

I have noticed that people who speak well of others tend to be happy most of the time. Then I’ve also noticed that people who tend to blame and grumble and complain, seem to be unhappy no matter what is happening in their lives. I guess these people will never really be happy, because their life is an echo. And if life really is an echo, what does yours sound like today?

Thank you for taking the time to read this article. It has been inspired by recent events in my own life. But, I am really curious to find out what you think of this concept. Is it new to you or are you just being reminded of something you already know?

In Australia alone, over one third of the countries population is receiving some sort of government assistance…aged, disability, supporting parent, unemployed, low income earner etc. So of our 21 million people, over 7 million are living way below the average wage.

Maybe you’re wondering what they all have in common, and why in one of the richest countries in the world so many people need extra assistance? Well, I’ve been one of these people for many years now and I’ve made the decision to be fully financially successful and self sufficient. So I’ve done some research and found out the most common mistakes these welfare dependant people (including me in the past) are making.

I wonder if you can identify with any of these Common Mistakes That Make People Poor -

are indecisive

cannot save money

have no investments that are earning you positive cash flow

have no plan, goals or even hope to be in a better position in the future

are unable (or don’t) pay your debts each month

think that investing is risky

may have a nice car, nice house, nice furniture, nice clothes, nice possessions, nice social life but nothing else to show for it

have no health/income insurance

would be in financial trouble if you lost your job tomorrow

smoke, drink alcohol or soft drinks, addicted to sugary foods or take drugs

believe you must have money before you can make money

are dependant on the government, your parents/spouse or someone else for money

How many of these mistakes are you making? If these are the habits/beliefs/mind set of poor people, doesn’t it make sense to do/believe/think differently in order to give yourself a better life?

You’ll find a multitude of goal setting processes that you can implement to get more of what you want in your life, but most people only set goals in the financial area of life….

…what about the other areas of you life? Your relationship with your partner, your relationship with family and friends, the health of your mind, body and spirit, life in your community and the natural environment around us. How about your relationship with God or the universal energy..?

All of these areas of life are equally important to a balanced existence. When next setting your goals, consider aiming for grander results in the other areas of life that are depicted in this simple image below.

These are some questions that I find useful to ask myself on a regular basis…especially if I am facing a challenge.

What am I afraid of?

What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail?

What is the worst thing I could do right now?

What is the most loving (or wise) thing I could do now? (Please note – loving doesn’t just mean actions towards other people…loving also includes actions towards ourselves)

What am I avoiding?

How have I been courageous?

How have I contributed to creating this situation?

What is the worst thing that could happen?

What is the best thing that could happen?

What is my greatest weakness right now?

What is my greatest strength right now?

What sort of person am I being right now?

What sort of person do I intend to be in the future?

Sometimes when I am feeling enveloped by a challenge, asking myself a set of balanced questions helps me to bring things back into perspective.

FOUR STEPS THAT LEAD TO SUCCESS

1. Decide a definite purpose that is backed by an insatiable desire for its fulfilment.
2. Develop a plan and act on it continuously.
3. Close your mind tightly against all negative and discouraging influences.
4. Create a friendly alliance with one or more people who will encourage you to follow through with both the plan and purpose. It is important to remember that if your plan doesn’t work, change it. But continue to persist towards achieving your goal.

The Seven Wonders of the World – Author Unknown

Junior high school students in Chicago were studying the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of the lesson, the students were asked to list what they considered to be the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt’s Great Pyramids
2. The Taj Mahal in India
3. The Grand Canyon in Arizona
4. The Panama Canal
5. The Empire State Building
6. St. Peter’s Basilica
7. China’s Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student, a quiet girl, hadn’t turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The quiet girl replied, “Yes, a little. I couldn’t quite make up my mind because there were so many.” The teacher said, “Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help.”The girl hesitated, then read, “I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:
1. to touch…
2. to taste…
3. to see…
4. to hear… (She hesitated a little, and then added…)
5. to feel…
6. to laugh…
7. and to love.

The room was so quiet; you could have heard a pin drop.

Enjoy what you have in your life already have!

I was listening to an interview with Jack Canfield (co-author of the best selling Chicken Soup For The Soul series of books) and he was talking about how long it takes to change a habit. So I took some notes and this is what we came up with.

Did you know that there has been scientific research to prove that a habit takes from around 30 to 45 days to change. Now that figure sounds quite achievable don’t you think? If you have been thinking making a change to your lifestyle, eating habits, maybe you’d even like to give away smoking or alcohol etc, the research shows that if you can make it to the 30 to 45 day mark you have a significantly higher chance of making a total life change.

One of the ways this has been proven is by giving astronauts concave lens glasses to wear, which of course made their vision up-side-down. At around the 30 day mark, most of them could see the images the right way up, so the neuro-pathways in the brain had been re-wired to form new connections.

I wonder what habit you might be thinking about changing…of course, it’s always good to focus on what you want to change into. For instance…don’t focus on losing weight, focus on getting fitter. If you want to give up smoking, focus on getting healthier. Our focus is a really crucial element of making a change in anything…and you must always focus on something positive. Most of us are motivated by the thoughts and feelings of pleasure, not pain.

I wish you all the best with any efforts you make to create change for yourself … just remember to focus on something positive and that makes you feel good. Use the tools that inspire you, like composing a song or writing some poetry, making a patchwork quilt, sculpting or carving images of your favourite visions of how you would like your life to be. When you are at the beach you can draw images in the sand and let the waves add their energy to the universal forces that are always in effect when we ‘dream big dreams’.

Do you sometimes feel disillusioned when you don’t achieve your goals as quickly as you imagined? I know that I have. The aspects taugh by some of the ‘law of attraction’ experts and movies like ‘The Secret’ make it seem as though all you need to do is imagine what you want and it will come to you…but there seem to be several steps in the process that not everyone includes in their articles and teachings.

I’ve done some research and here is my compilation…

To create and attract what we really desire in our lives, it helps to have -

an inspiring life purpose (something that really gets your juices flowing)

a clear description of what you want (written down as goals or in the form of a vision board…find a list of different ways of creating images of your goals)

an expectation that you can and will get what you want (including thinking, speaking and behaving as if it already exists)

gratitude for what you have already been given and for what you are about to receive (I use the Grateful Chain to express my gratitude on a regular basis as well as being grateful in my thoughts and expressing my thankfulness when I speak to others)

beliefs that support where and who you intend to be (which means to change your thoughts, words and actions whenever you catch yourself thinking, speaking or behaving in ways that don’t match up what you intend to create)

an attitude that everything is working perfectly in your favour, no matter what seems to be appearing on the outside

trust in yourself to make the most of whatever happens

faith that God/the universe has already given you everything you need

appropriate, effective, courageous action!

I wonder if you agree or have any more to add to this list…

Did you know that people across the globe are using Vision Boards and Vision Movies to assist them to achieve their goals? These various vision tools depict your life as you would like it to be. You know, the stuff you dream about being, doing and having. The way you would like your life to be if it was perfect.

It’s a fun and creative way to visualize your goals – and wasn’t goal achieving supposed to be fun!

Writing a song or a poem, making a quilt or mosaic, drawing a picture or doing a painting are all types of ‘vision tools’ too. And they are easier to create than you think.

Statistics and research show that only approximately 4% of the population write down or record their goals. You really have to put thought into what you want and that takes time and planning. Most of us leave our visions of what we really want, inside our heads, and don’t do much else to make things in our life change.

Creating your own ‘vision tool’ makes you think about what you really want your life to be like. It should be fun to make and most importantly, pleasurable to look at, perform or watch. For me, I have created several personal ‘vision tools’. I have done some decoupage on my guitar (which is a simple process of sticking pictures on to the surface and then sealing with a special glue found in craft stores) and I’ve also created several Vision Movies or Slide Show Presentations using Windows Movie Maker.

When I play my guitar it makes me feel like the star in my pictures. When I watch my Vision Movies, they make me feel like I am part of the movie and give me a sense of euphoria – every time. As I keep my vision tools in view and interact with them on a daily basis, I have noticed my life changing rapidly to fit the vision. Of course I still need to take action to make my life the way I want it, but starting a new habit of playing guitar and watching my special Movies everyday, was a great place to begin.

For a long time, I was unaware of how powerful these ’vision tools’ could be in my life and I resisted making them…but not any more! Maybe it’s time for you to include a fun and positive habit in your daily tasks. If you don’t feel inspired to make your own ‘vision tool’ though, take a look at what someone else has created and if it makes you feel good, then it’s already having a positive effect. I wish you well with whatever you choose to create.
